Environmental & Social Responsibility

We seek to minimise any negative impact our business may have, not just on workers and our customers, but on the wider environment including the public and local communities.

Whilst we use lime mortar, which is a much more environmentally friendly building material in comparison to cement, some emissions are still unavoidable.  We seek to offset our carbon emissions by planting wild flower meadows and native trees on neglected land in Kent.  The planting of wild flower meadows provides a rapid carbon absorption rate and complements our planting of trees, which can take longer to absorb enough carbon and store it in the ground.

Delivering social value within our work is critical to us.  Our business is community focussed and we take pride in both employing locally in Kent and engaging with the community.

We support the Friends of St Mary of Charity Church, Faversham charity and lecture to the local community on the subject of flint walling.  We further provide flint knapping workshops and in doing this we seek to enable the local community to develop their own skills.

We also have a commitment of providing social value.  We aim to support churches by enhancing wildlife within church yards and engage with the community, for example by enabling local primary schools to visit ‘wildlife hotels’ and bird and bat boxes.

We promote good ethical practice in construction and honesty, integrity, kindness, fairness and respectfulness are core values to our business.
